Spotlight Session with Tara Gereaux

The Cavendish Literary Festival concludes with a special Spotlight Session featuring two extraordinary Canadian writers whose work explores identity, place, memory, and the ties that bind us together.

The afternoon begins with Canadian poet and writer Bren Simmers in conversation with Laurie Brinklow. Together, they will explore the landscapes, experiences, and relationships that shape Simmers’ work, reflecting on poetry, place, memory, and the power of human connection.

The spotlight then turns to acclaimed Métis author Tara Gereaux. In conversation with Laura Chapin, Gereaux will discuss her latest novel, Wild People Quiet, and the questions at the heart of her work: what we will do for our communities, our families, and our friends, even at our own expense. Known for her richly drawn characters, emotional depth, and insightful exploration of belonging and identity, Gereaux’s writing illuminates the complexities of contemporary life with compassion, honesty, and humour. Thoughtful, engaging, and deeply resonant, this closing conversation offers a fitting finale to the 2026 Cavendish Literary Festival.
