L.M. Montgomery (Lucy Maud Montgomery) was a Canadian author born on the North Shore of Prince Edward Island. In 1905, while in Cavendish taking care of her grandmother, L.M. Montgomery wrote her first and most famous novel, Anne of Green Gables. What would turn into an immediate best-seller, Anne of Green Gables, launched Montgomery’s career as a novelist.
Montgomery shared her love for Cavendish and Prince Edward Island through her work. She wrote breathtaking descriptions of life, nature, community and people that can be found there. These descriptions have influenced many readers to visit the places that Montgomery immortalized in her work and has made Cavendish, referred to by locals as “The Land of Anne” and Prince Edward Island, a must-visit destination.

Montgomery Literary Tour, seeking out panels to help them solve riddles, answer questions and complete tasks. The sites included in the L.M. Montgomery Literary Tour are some of the most important and meaningful places that inspired Montgomery to write.
