There are multiple routes you can take to explore the area, here are a couple of the most popular ones starting at the Cavendish Visitor Information Centre at 7591 Cawnpore Lane.

Route 1: To North Rustico

Start your journey at the Cavendish Visitors Information Centre and take a left out of the parking lot on the paved path towards the Gulfshore Parkway.

Ride for approximately 1 KM and you will arrive at the Oceanview lookout. Make sure to stop here and take the time to take in the breathtaking view of the red cliffs and dunes overlooking the main Cavendish Beach.

This is known as one of the most picturesque locations on Prince Edward Island so this is a must stop!

When leaving Oceanview, take Terre Rouge Lane to access the Gulfshore parkway. Head east towards North Rustico and ride along the shoreline.

Make sure to stop and check out the views along the way such as MacNeill’s Brook, Mackenzie’s Brook, Cape Turner, Doyle’s Cove and North Rustico Beach.

Eventually you will arrive at the North Rustico Harbour. At North Rustico Harbour, you will have a variety of options for lunch. The Blue Mussel Cafe, On the Dock Eatery and Tides and Tales Bistro. The websites with their menus for these places will be listed below.

After a delightful lunch in North Rustico, take the Gulfshore parkway heading west all the way back to cavendish. End your journey back at the Cavendish Visitors Information Centre, this will be about an 18 km ride round trip.

Route 2: Around Cavendish

For the second route you will also start your journey at the Cavendish Visitors Information Centre and take a left out of the parking lot on the paved path towards the Gulfshore Parkway. Ride for approximately 1 KM and you will arrive at the Oceanview lookout.

From here take the gravel path down the Dunelands trail which leads you across the stunning floating bridge to the Main Cavendish Beach. The Dunelands trail is a gorgeous 2.4 KM stretch which is one of the most scenic trails on Prince Edward Island.

From here, follow the gravel path along Grahams Lane down the to the Cavendish National Park Campground.

Here you will find the start of the Homestead trail. This is a scenic 10 km loop which offers coastal views as well as beautiful landscape.

After completing this loop, take the same path back up to the Cavendish Visitors Centre. This will be about a 16 km ride round trip.

If you are looking for a longer bike ride, you can combine these two routes to create different variations. By combining the two rides, you can create a route that takes approximately 35 km.

For this option, we would suggest completing the route around Cavendish first before making your way down the Gulfshore parkway to North Rustico for lunch. This ensures you complete the majority of your ride before enjoying your delicious lunch, what a great reward!

Now you are all set to explore the Cavendish area on an E-Bike!
